The perfect pair of pants are tough to find, not to mention when you’re 5’1’’.
I’ve always rounded up when it has come to my height, squeezing that extra inch in to convince my mom that I was tall enough to ride on that rollercoaster or my brothers that there was no doubt that I could keep up in a game of basketball even though they both tower over me (I got this!). Avoiding the obvious, believing that my tiny stature of 5’1’’ in addition to that unseen unmeasured inch, making me a lofty 5’2’’ would drastically alter the end result seems so silly now, but for the longest time I believed that the additional vertical confidence made me feel less tiny.
As I have grown older, my frustrations have lied less with height requirements for rides and athletics that I’m not physically built for, but more with my wardrobe and where I can find clothing that compliments my body type. For years, I only shopped at Abercrombie Kids and once I out grew that as an option I would shop regular sizes, which resulted in cuffing my jeans or alterations.
Petite styles weren’t always so easy to find, especially that fit just right. Over the years, I’ve tried more and more petite options and while I haven’t always had the best luck I do find that overall purchasing jeans, pants and skirts in petite sizing options typically fit better. The only frustration I have now, is that I wish there were more styles, but as of late I have found so many options that have fit me perfectly and that I love. The right fit can make such a difference and each of the styles below, including these wide legged pants compliment a petite frame so well. Hopefully these options will help you trade in those cuffed jeans for a perfect petite pair!
